Payton and Blake built our Aquaponics To Go system. They took a cart and laid a shelf across the bottom. It was attached with zip ties. A small fish tank went onto the shelf. It has three medium-sized fish in it now. On the top of the cart is the grow bed. It's a small one because we are using a small fish tank. It also needs to be easy to move around the school. Blake used the grow light stand from Urban Garden to rig up a light over the plants.
The boys were able to get a small amount of work done on their boats. They were really busy doing lots of things so they took a break from the boats.
The tables for the new grow bed had to be leveled and raised to be the same height as the new fish tank. It took quite a bit of work because the new tank is really tall! Everything looks great now.

Michael and Hailey ran the shop this week. They learned that the bowstem needs to be shaped like a trapezoid. We learned about that from Mr. Hawley's mistake and were able to make ours based on his mistake. Hailey figured out that the bulkhead had to be exactly 8 3/8" from the back. Michael had to cut the wood exactly down the middle to make the nailers, which are pieces of wood that act as supports for where the nails attach. Hailey and Mr. Hawley started cutting out the bottoms of the quarter size boats.

This week in engineering, Tucker painted a laptop podium for Mrs. Silverman. He also worked on his 1:4 scale model boat. He got all the pieces cut out and started to put it together a little bit. Noah made his 1:12 scale boat out of cardboard. His boat came out super fine! It was about as perfect as you could get. He calls it "Shrek." Noah also cut some wood to start work on the quarter scale.

Michael and Blake were working in engineering this week. Michael worked on the Latti Box for most of the week. The Latti Box was built for Mrs. Latti. The box is a laptop podium stand to raise up her podium. She thought her podium was too low when she is standing up. Michael ran into some trouble while trying to put the nails into the plywood and the whole thing almost fell apart. Blake was sick for a couple of days, but he learned that something that couldn't be salvagable really could be saved.
Abby, Blake, and Payton got to go to Region 10 for the day on the 24th. Abby loved it and discovered what she wants to do for a possible career. She loved the culinary arts department and the Outdoor Motor Sports. Payton liked it all. He did EMT, early childhood development, and culinary arts. He said Culinary Arts was pretty fun. During the cooking, the instructor was teaching different kinds of chopping and was telling jokes the whole time. The EMT had a $30,000 mannequin that was able to have a pulse, a blood rate, and everything else we have. It was programmable to say things. He also took apart cars. Blake did foundations, pre-engineering, carpentry woodwork, and auto collision/auto body. He liked it all! Blake wants to turn the toolboxes that were made into flower boxes.
The Sheepscot Team's fleet of tiny (1:12) scale rowboats! Our first step as we dip our oars into our boatbuilding project. Keep checking our progress as we practice our craft on (1:4) scale boats, Next, we will collectively apply our skills to build our very first team built 8 foot rowboat!

In the project room, Mikey and Hailey are building a laptop podium stand for Mrs. Latti. She wants a 9" stand for her podium to fit on so she can stand up and type instead of always sitting down.
We are building a quarter scale Davis 8 boat model. The 8 means that the boat will be 8 feet long. We already built the small model out of cardboard and are doing the bigger model so we can build the big one when we finish. There cannot be a mess up when we build the real Davis 8 because it will be a research vessel. The smaller models are for making the mistakes. Making mistakes on the real boat will be expensive.
Blake built legs for the racks that we need for holding the grow lights for our Sheepscot Aquaponic Farm.

We have turned part of one of our rooms into a woodworking shop. As of yet, we don't have a name for this shop. It is a lot of fun, though! A couple of teachers asked us if we could build laptop podiums to help offset stiff necks and headaches from always looking down at screens. Of course, we said yes and took on the challenge! Everyone was challenged to come up with his/her own design and then build a prototype. The next step is to make a brochure so we can offer these podiums for sale. As you can see, everyone had great ideas and each podium is different!

It's Noah from engineering in Sheepscot. This week I worked on fixing the bikes for team Sheepscot. I fixed eight bikes in five days so they could be ready for spring. Some had to have brakes fixed. One of them I spent more than a day on. The others were not so hard. I also put two license plates on the bikes. The bikes have license plates named after the people that donated them.
I was the only person responsible for the engineering department this week. My partner unfortunately was absent.
